Ho Chi Minh City is transforming strongly in the journey of digitalizing traffic infrastructure. One of the outstanding steps is the deployment of a system of cameras for fines using artificial intelligence (AI). The cameras not only recognize license plates, detect violations such as running red lights, wrong lanes, but also connect directly to the Intelligent Traffic Operation Center (IOC) - where data is analyzed, processed and synchronized with the national vehicle management system.
The system of cameras for fines in Ho Chi Minh City is part of the city's strategy to build a smart city and digital traffic. These cameras are installed at key intersections to monitor, record and automatically recognize license plates of violating vehicles - helping authorities quickly detect and handle behaviors such as:
All data is transmitted to the IOC Intelligent Traffic Operation Center for automatic analysis and processing via AI - ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology.

The off-the-shelf fine AI camera system in Ho Chi Minh City is currently set up with a total of 31 AI cameras. These cameras are strategically installed on 7 main routes with high traffic volume, which are hot spots for violations and congestion.
Although only 7 routes are public, the actual installation of 31 cameras on these key intersections implies that the surveillance density is very high, covering many angles and directions of movement. Therefore, drivers should not only focus on the main points but also comply with the law on the entire designated route, as the surveillance area may be larger than the public intersection name.

In addition to the system of 31 new-generation AI cameras, Ho Chi Minh City still maintains a traditional traffic monitoring system in many other areas, especially inner-city routes with high traffic density. These routes are still closely monitored areas, including:
These routes are often where traditional cameras monitor basic behaviors such as running red lights and illegal parking, adding to the comprehensive coverage of the urban monitoring system.
Drivers can look up traffic violation information through the driver's license management software of the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, people can look up traffic violations quickly:
In addition to looking up images from Ho Chi Minh City's traffic violation cameras, this system can look up traffic violation camera errors in other localities across the country.
