AI cameras record sharp decrease in traffic violations in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is entering the phase of smart traffic management with the support of an AI-integrated camera system. After more than a month of pilot implementation, data shows that the number of traffic violations at installation points has decreased sharply, demonstrating the clear effectiveness of this technology in improving traffic order and safety.

Initial effectiveness of the AI Camera system

According to statistics, from September 1, 2025 to October 3, 2025, 31 specialized AI cameras installed at key intersections and routes recorded more than 3,100 violations. Notably, the system not only detects one type of violation but can identify more than 20 traffic violations at the same time, including:

• Running a red light
• Driving in the wrong lane or on the road
• Exceeding the prescribed speed
• Not wearing a seat belt or using a phone while driving

The ability to operate continuously 24/7 and fully automate helps the system reduce pressure on the traffic police force and improve accuracy in handling violations.

Impact of AI cameras on Traffic Safety Order (TSO)

The deployment of AI cameras for TTATGT in Ho Chi Minh City has been positively recorded. Initial reports indicate that traffic violations in areas where AI cameras are installed have decreased significantly and sharply. The rate of traffic violations at hot spots has decreased sharply in the first phase of operation, demonstrating the clear deterrent effect of the automatic monitoring system.

Some highlights:

• Vo Thi Sau - Hai Ba Trung intersection (Districts 1, 3): significantly reduced illegal parking violations.
• Hang Xanh intersection (Binh Thanh): reduced cases of driving in the wrong direction.
• Cat Lai intersection (Districts 2, 7): reduced illegal parking and overloaded trucks.

This reduction in violations demonstrates the comprehensive deterrent effect that technology brings. Road users are aware that their behavior is being continuously and inevitably monitored, leading to a significant change in driving habits and higher compliance. The significant reduction in violations in these areas contributes significantly to building a more civilized and safer traffic culture for the entire city.
