What is Novec 1230?

The tank is usually made of stainless steel or carbon steel, withstands high pressure, including the following main parts:

Cylinder body: Contains Novec 1230 in liquid form, compressed with propellant gas (usually Nitrogen) to maintain pressure.

Solenoid valve:

• Electrically controlled, opens when receiving a signal from the control cabinet.
• Can be manually activated if required.
• Pressure gauge: Monitors the pressure inside the tank (usually 25–42 bar at 20°C).
• Pressure switch: Automatically shuts off if the pressure is too low or too high.
• Pipe & Nozzle: Connect to the distribution pipe system to deliver gas to the fire area.

Nozzle: The nozzle is an important part of the Novec 1230 fire extinguishing system, responsible for evenly dispersing the fire extinguishing agent in the form of a fine mist into the area that needs protection.

The nozzle is usually made of stainless steel or anti-corrosion alloy, including the main parts:

Operating Principle of Novec 1230 System

The Novec 1230 fire extinguishing system is based on the method of extinguishing fire with clean agent - specifically, inhibiting chemical reactions in the fire zone and cooling the fire quickly, while not causing harm to people, electronic equipment and the environment.

Early fire detection: The system uses detectors such as: Smoke Detector, Heat Detector. When detecting abnormal signals such as smoke or high temperature, the central controller will receive the signal and switch to the warning state.

Activating the alarm

• The siren and flashing lights will operate to warn people in the area where the fire is occurring.
• It is possible to integrate an automatic evacuation system (Voice Evacuation) in large projects.
• Delay time: After a delay (usually 10-30 seconds), to ensure the safety of people evacuating, the system will automatically activate the gas release valve.

Novec 1230 gas discharge

• Novec 1230 gas is contained in a high-pressure tank and led through a piping system to the nozzles.
• The gas is discharged within 10 seconds, covering the entire space to be protected.

Fire extinguishing

• Novec 1230 does not extinguish the fire by suffocation like CO₂ but prevents the chain reaction of combustion at the molecular level.
