TrueAlert Electronic Horn 4901-9820

The Simplex 4901-9820 is a non-addressable electronic horn from the TrueAlert series. It is a high-intensity audible notification appliance, operating on a Notification Appliance Circuit (NAC), with two control modes:

• Free-Run: horn sounds directly according to the NAC input signal.

• SmartSync: horn operation controlled over two wires together with strobes, reducing wiring requirements while still allowing selective silencing of devices.

• Rich, clear sound: Produces loud, distinctive tones suitable for both steady mode and coded patterns such as Temporal or March Time.

• Diode-polarized input: Ensures full compatibility with NAC circuits using reverse-polarity supervision.

• Durable design: Impact-resistant, flame-retardant red plastic housing with white “FIRE” lettering; optional white housing available.

• Selectable operation via switch (SW1):

  • Free-Run: operates directly from NAC input (steady or coded).

  • SmartSync: enables two-wire control, supporting functions such as “on-until-silenced” for horn and “on-until-reset” for accompanying strobe.

• Compact, flexible installation: Mounts flush or surface on single-gang, double-gang, or 4-inch square boxes; rear profile does not extend into the back box.

• Optional accessories: Wire guard, sound damper (reduces output by 5–6 dBA), adapter plates, and color change kits.

• Standards & approvals: UL 464, ULC S525, NEMA 1 rated, CSFM (California), FM Approved, NYC approved.
