Signal IAM (Signal Individual Addressable Module) is a module (IAM) used in the Simplex addressable fire alarm system, connecting the fire alarm control panel (FACP / FACU) with notification appliances such as horns, strobes, speakers, etc.
Purpose:
Provides a supervised output for Notification Appliance Circuits (NACs) with its own address, enabling remote signaling control and expansion of NAC zones when needed.
Supervised NAC expansion module for addressable fire alarm panels 4007ES, 4008, 4010ES, 4100ES, 4100U.
Allows adding local alarm zones (selective signaling) without requiring a separate power supply.
NAC Output:
0.5 A for 24 VDC notification appliances (special application / regulated).
12.5 W @ 25 VRMS or 35 W @ 70.7 VRMS for speakers (audio).
Supports Class A or Class B supervision.
Flashing LED indicates communication status.
Does not support SmartSync or TrueAlert addressable control (only for 4-wire devices).
Compatible with Simplex strobe synchronization.
Powered directly from the IDNet loop (no separate 24 VDC supply required for the module).
Listings/Approvals: UL 864, ULC, CSFM, FM, MEA (NYC).
Electrical
Communication: IDNet, uses 2 logical addresses (though physically one address).
NAC Input Power:
24 VDC from FACU NAC or NAC extender.
25 VRMS or 70.7 VRMS from compatible audio source.
NAC Output:
0.5 A @ 24 VDC (notification appliances).
12.5 W @ 25 VRMS or 35 W @ 70.7 VRMS (speakers).
End-of-Line (EOL) resistor: 10 kΩ, 1/2 W (part no. 4081-9008).
Wiring connections: Screw terminals, 18–12 AWG (0.82 – 3.31 mm²).
Wiring Distance
IDNet: up to 2,500 ft (762 m) from FACU.
Total Class B wiring (including T-taps): up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m).
NAC: wiring distance depends on voltage drop, conductor size, and device load (IAM itself does not significantly affect voltage drop).
Mechanical
Dimensions: 102 × 105 × 32 mm (4” × 4 1/8” × 1 1/4”).
Operating temperature: 0°–49 °C (32°–120 °F), indoor use only.
Humidity: ≤ 93% RH @ 38 °C (100 °F).
Mounts in a standard 4-inch square electrical box, minimum depth 54 mm.
4090-9801: Semi-flush trim plate with LED viewing window.
4090-9802: Surface-mount trim plate with LED viewing window.
4090-9116 / 4090-9122: IDNet Isolator, for loop branch isolation.
4081-9008: 10 kΩ, 1/2 W End-of-Line resistor.
2081-9044: Overvoltage Protector for IDNet wiring.
