Bosch has released a software update for its Building Integration System (BIS), which allows security operators to manage and adjust access control systems at any location globally, from a single server to local zones.

Distributed systems are typically used by large, global enterprises with multiple locations spread across multiple regions. These systems can be found in international corporations with offices around the world, or companies that need security with installations spread across geographical areas, such as subways or retail chains.

With Bosch BIS 4.3, companies managing distributed systems can now operate multiple servers at the same time. All changes and updates to the central server are immediately transmitted to all other zones and servers.

Security managers can use a single central server to operate a network of servers around the world to centrally manage access cardholders, allowing for centralization of the onboarding of new employees or modification of access rights for all cardholders worldwide. Changes take effect immediately, so employees can access different locations without having to request local access rights.

In addition, regional access rights can be granted from the central server. This allows, for example, a global manufacturing group headquartered in Berlin to instantly grant or deny access to remote employees at an industrial plant in Brazil from its Berlin headquarters.

Central management of access cardholders is included with Bosch BIS 4.3 as an optional feature upon request.

Cybersecurity is also enhanced with state-of-the-art encryption for the server-client communication model and allows Bosch BIS 4.3 software to be installed on Windows 10, Microsoft's most secure operating system.
