On the morning of September 2, Vingroup Corporation (VIC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the VINFAST automobile manufacturing complex in Cat Hai Economic Zone - Hai Phong. Vingroup Vice President Nguyen Viet Quang said that although automobile manufacturing is a new field, it will be one of Vingroup's key areas in the future.
To prepare for this new but ambitious field, Vinfast plans to work with many of the world's leading partners in stages such as planning, design, spare parts, finance... For automobile manufacturing technology, Mr. Quang said, VinFast has discussed and prepared to sign deepening cooperation with Bosch and Siemens.
If Siemens is known as the largest electrical company in Germany and Europe with the main segment being automation and control, Bosch will appear as partners providing solutions as well as auto parts and components.
Bosch is quite a name familiar in Vietnam in the field of portable electrical equipment such as drills or high-end household electrical appliances such as induction cookers, dishwashers, refrigerators...

However, these fields are just some of the many fields that Bosch is doing business in. Founded in 1886, Bosch is now one of Germany's leading industrial groups with four main business segments: Mobility Solutions (formerly Automotive Engineering), Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, Building and Energy Engineering.
Of which, the most important field contributing 60% of sales is the field related to automotive technology. According to Wikipedia, Bosch is one of the The world's largest independent supplier of auto parts to the automotive industry, with main product groups being Spark Plugs, Engines, Brake Systems, Gasoline Systems, Diesel Systems and Supporting Equipment.
Many of the technologies known to consumers today come from this manufacturer. One of them is electronic fuel injection (introduced in 1967), anti-lock braking system (ABS) (introduced in 1978), traction control system (1987) or self-balancing system n by ESP electronics (1995).
In 2016, Bosch's sales exceeded 73 billion euros and its profits reached 2.3 billion euros. Although profits fell compared to 2015, but the group still ranked 76th on the Fortune 500 list of the world's largest companies.

Bosch's business results in the last 5 years
Bosch began operating in Vietnam in 1994 and is currently one of the largest EU investors in Vietnam. Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, with two branch offices in Hanoi and Da Nang, and a Gasoline Systems factory producing continuously variable transmission (CVT) belts in Dong Nai province.
According to the data we have, in 2014 Bosch Vietnam's revenue was reached 3,900 billion VND with pre-tax profit of 1,100 billion VND.
Bosch's announcement said that in the 2016 fiscal year, Bosch Vietnam had domestic revenue (consolidated) of 99 million USD, an increase of 40% compared to 2015. Total domestic revenue and export reached 322 million USD (more than 7,300 billion VND).
In Vietnam, Bosch has the following business lines: Automotive Parts and Equipment; Automotive and Motorcycle Electronics; Drive and Control Engineering; Packaging Engineering; Power Tools; Security System.

Security Systems is one of Bosch's strong operating sectors in the Vietnamese market.
Automotive spare parts are manufactured by Bosch mainly at the Gasoline Systems factory in Dong Nai province. This is one of two factories Bosch machines worldwide produce continuously variable transmission belts.
The Gasoline Systems business unit is part of the Bosch Automotive Technology business unit. It produces and supplies most car manufacturers worldwide with components for gasoline and diesel engines. powertrain systems, and also provides support services related to the development and technical application of automatic transmissions.
In addition, Bosch also operates a Technology and Business Solutions Research and Development Center (Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd.) and an Automotive Technology Research & Development Center in Ho Chi Minh City. More than 40% of Bosch Vietnam's total of more than 3,100 employees work at these two R&D centers.
A few days ago, Mr. Votilde Quang Hue - General Director of Bosch Vietnam decided to leave the company after more than ten years of working there. Mr. Hue's new job is the position of Deputy General Director of Vingroup in charge of the automobile industry, developing the VinFast project. Before joining Bosch, Mr. Hue also worked for a very long time at the Group BMW.
