Bosch partners with Sony to boost its Security Surveillance Systems business
Grasbrunn, Germany - Following formal approval by antitrust authorities, the business partnership between Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation in the field of security surveillance solutions has come into effect as of February 1, 2017 - except in China, where the partnership will begin on April 1, 2017. Both companies will focus on strengthening the collaboration, which was first announced in November 2016.
The partnership entails cooperation in the areas of sales and marketing as well as technical cooperation. In relation to sales and marketing, Sony security surveillance employees have joined the newly formed Bosch Security Systems team. Sony customers in all markets except Japan will be served and supported by this sales and marketing team. “We are delighted to welcome these experienced colleagues to our organization and will continue to develop Sony products by providing excellent service and support to our customers,” said Michael Hirsch, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sony’s Security Surveillance Business in collaboration with Bosch. “We are pleased that Sony customers are now supported by Bosch Security Systems. Together, we are developing new product lines that leverage leading-edge technology in both image quality and performance,” said Toru Katsumoto, Vice President of Imaging Products and Solutions, Head of Professional Products, Sony Corporation.
In terms of technical cooperation, both companies are setting new standards in terms of high-resolution imaging, combined with excellent light sensitivity, reinforced by Bosch’s expertise in integrated video analytics and the latest data management techniques. In March 2017, Sony will launch eight new Full-HD (1080p) cameras in its sixth-generation (G6) IP camera range, meeting the growing demand for image clarity in the security surveillance market. The high light sensitivity of the G6 cameras ensures that image integrity is maintained even in the presence of reflections. At the same time, Bosch is investing in video analytics and data management. Starting in May 2017, all network cameras from the IP 4000 series will be equipped with built-in video analytics, the latest data management techniques, and H.265 video encoding, reducing the load by up to 80%. This innovation from Sony and Bosch will be showcased at ISC West 2017 (April 5-7) in Las Vegas, USA.
The first jointly developed products are expected to be launched in 2018. “We aim to provide best-in-class data security solutions to our customers in both existing and new market segments,” said Gert van Iperen, President of Bosch Security Systems.
