OpenScape 4000 provides converged IP communication solutions for companies with 300 up to 100.000 users in a corporate communication network. The solution offers the maturity and broad range of Enterprise features (well-known from former HiPath 4000 solution) with high reliable SW-architecture and security functionalities. It combines the advantages of both worlds with networking, with carrier access and the flexible connection of analog, TDM- and IP-phones, mobile WLAN- and DECT devices and soft phones.
OpenScape 4000 is designed to offer customers energy and cost-effective choices to optimize communications that help enterprises increase workplace productivity and effectiveness. As a powerful communications solution it offers a rich set of endpoints, mobility choices, edge solutions, unified communications and standards based integration with business critical applications and systems. It ties this capability together with its built-in assistant and powerful set of system management applications that are easy to use and provide comprehensive capability to system administrators. Coupled with a strong global presence and availability of OpenScale Services it allows enterprises to maintain business continuity and to focus on their own strengths.
Why OpenScape instead of HiPath?
This is more than a name change. It reflects the importance of the 4000 in the portfolio, the ability to tightly integrate with OpenScape UC, and the possibility for the customer to prepare the company already for tomorrow.
OpenScape 4000 IP Distributed Architecture
A OpenScape 4000 Real time IP communication solution is build by a central call control installed on OpenScape 4000 communication server (EcoServer) or VMware® and several locally or remotely attached access points. The following types of decentral access point s are supported:
- OpenScape 4000 SoftGate
- OpenScape 4000 Branch
- OpenScape Access 500
- Access Point 3700 IP
Access Points can be connected locally (Host Access Point) to an OpenScape 4000 communication server or distributed by IP (IP Access Point, IPDA). OpenScape 4000 SoftGates, OpenScape 4000 Branch and OpenScape Access are always connected via IP. OpenScape 4000 supports up to 15 directly connected access points plus 83 IP-distributed access points.
In a virtualized deployment of OpenScape 4000 only IP Access Points, OpenScape Access 500, OpenScape 4000 Branch or OpenScape 4000 SoftGate servers can be connected to the central call control.
Note:
Technically OpenScape 4000 SoftGate, OpenScape Access and OpenScape 4000 Branch consist of the SoftGate Software. Therefore the remainder of this document will only refer to the SoftGate in order to improve readability.
This architecture allows building up stand-alone systems, IP distributed branch concepts and complex networks uniquely based on identical structures with OpenScape 4000, OpenScape Voice and OpenExchange. The IP distributed architecture (IPDA) with Access Points and SoftGate allows the connection of branches by a cost effective IP infrastructure and at the same time benefit from central applications and a central management.
While the Access Point 3700 IP offers places for the standard OpenScape 4000 boards, the SoftGates offer connectivity to the following OpenScape Access modules:
- Access SLA to connect analogue devices
- Access BRI for the ISDN Basic Rate Interface (S0)
- Access SLO to connect Up0 system device
- Access PRI the ISDN Primary Rate Interface (T1/E1)
- Access TA to connect analogue Central Office and tie trunks
- Access SLC to connect to classic DECT base stations
